The current Feingold’s diet is a recommended two staged plan: this plan starts with the elimination of artificial colors and antioxidants. This also means elimination of artificial flavors and even the aspirin containing products with natural salicyclates. In case of any improvement reintroduction of any of the food product or particle is considered.
Apart from banning certain foods from your diet there are recommendations in the Feingold diet about certain foods that should be taken and are allowed. These food items are:
Fruits: cantaloupe, bananas, dates, kiwis, grapefruit, lemons, papayas, pineapple, pears and watermelon
Vegetables: beans, bean sprouts, beets, cabbage, broccoli, carrots, lettuce, cauliflower, mushrooms, peas, onions, potatoes, sweet corn, zuccini.
This shows that the Feingold’s diet would require proper care and nutrition and even rigorous change in the eating habits and the food lifestyle of an individual. Even for any healthy child this diet plan would require a dramatic change in regular eating habits.
There were lots of surveys that were conducted by the study groups and even if there was even a single diet modification these study made it a point to show it. The Feingold’s diet is a self help method and works best when you try to help yourself at home. According to every study that was available there were not even single cases that seem to have benefited from this diet plan by Feingold. So this was suggested that this pattern of diet control failed to keep ADHD under control.
