In 1845, Dr. Heinrich Hoffman, a physician who published scientific papers on medicine and psychiatry, gives the first information on the Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). The interest of Dr. Hoffman in children and their characteristics first manifested in his attempt to discover new, appropriate readings for his three years old son. As he was also a poet, "The Story of Fidgety Philip", a colection of illustrated poems telling the story of a young boy who suffered from the ADHD condition, appeared.But only half century later,in 1902, Sir George F. Still writes several works on the most illustrative problems of behaviour presented by a group of impulsive children; this kind of behaviour was prooved to be generated by disfunctions on a genetic level - which today would be diagnosed from the begining as ADHD – and not by unappropriate education. The Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) condition mostly manifests itself in preschoolers and children in the early years of school; these children have difficulties in controling the way they behave and in focusing. Three to five out of one hundred children suffer from this affection; only in the United States this disease attacked two million children.
